Which country would you trust with an all powerful alien weapon?

An intergalactic war has begun. We find out we are part of an empire that we did not know existed. Our overlords demand that we protect our corner from the invaders. They look at our nuclear weapons and rudimentary spaceships and say "That won't do at all." Take this and they shove a device in our hands. "Don't do anything with it until we tell you to".

Which country would you want them handing it to? Switzerland not the United States is the answer. But why?

Farmers are the majority profession of Swiss federal politicians. Not a slight against farmers. But that is peculiar for a nation. Switzerland is peculiar.

There is something serious about this country that is missing from most others. It is in their exported products, their services, their desire to be a highly functioning country as a goal in itself. Something serious that means they are the most trustworthy with the weapon.

I do not yet know why Switzerland is the country to be trusted. But WhatTheSwiss will be about exploring it.
